The 'Seven Days' hitmaker will join Olly Murs while apl.de.ap and Taboo will work alongside their band mate Will.i.am for the knockout stage of the competition.

Olly - who joined the show as a main coach for the first time earlier this year - said: "Craig is amazing, we have known each other a long time. I have been a fan of him as an artist from an early age and it is great I can now call him a friend.

"We did a charity trek together several years ago and formed a bond then. I love his sense of humour but most importantly as an artist I love his music.

"He's also got so much experience in the industry and with that he will really give me some great constructive feedback on my acts and help me make the right decision."

And the feeling is mutual for Craig as he's honoured to be part of the process.

He said: "I first got to know Olly on the Comic Relief Desert Trek we took part in back in 2011 and we've built a great friendship since then.

"I know he is really passionate about everyone on his team and it's going to be a hard decision for him to choose who to put through. For me, it's nice to be part of this process and to give some positive critiques to each act.

"Because I know Olly so well I can be very honest with him so hopefully my opinions will help him make his decision, but ultimately this is his gig!"

The Black Eyed Peas have sold more than 76 million records globally and won seven Grammy Awards so Will feels there's no better people to help him out with his acts than his band mates because they've all grown up mentoring each other.

He explained: "There are no better folks for me to have mentor my team because we have mentored each other. We mentored each other when nobody really believed in us and we went on to do impossible things.

"What we have done for each other is scale the highest walls and break down the toughest barriers. We climbed the highest mountains and built the most awesome spaceship to go to outer space.

"Why pick somebody else who is a stranger when I can go to family?"

The guest mentors will join the coaches for the knockout stage of the show as their six acts perform in the hope of going through to the semi finals.

Sir Tom Jones and Jennifer Hudson's guest mentors will be announced soon.
