Dancing On Ice made its triumphant return to ITV this year, and it would seem the sizzling performances aren’t the only things getting hot on the ice. According to comments made by judge Ashley Banjo to the Daily Star Sunday, there are some potential partnerships happening behind-the-scenes that could last far past the competition.

Banjo teased: “I can definitely see there are romances happening. The way that some of them dance and the way they get close, it’s inevitable. I’m not going to say who, but yes, it’s happening. You can see which couples have a better connection and which ones don’t.”

Exactly who may be getting closer than we know behind-the-scenes isn’t something that’s been revealed, but you can bet we’ll be watching the show closer than ever this weekend!

He also approached the topic of married stars taking part in shows such as this one, hinting that the Strictly Come Dancing curse could make its way over to the ITV show at some point.

“It doesn’t help,” he said. “You see it all the time on shows like Dancing On Ice and Strictly. There’s something about the way people connect when they dance. Dancing ties people together. It happens especially when you’re rehearsing week in, week out… you’re touching, you’re laughing. There’s something about the intimacy of it that just sparks romance. I met my wife through dancing.”

The judge isn’t wrong in his claims, as we’ve seen EastEnders actor Matt Lapinskas have a fling with ice skating professional Brianne Delcourt in the past, all whilst he was in a relationship with his co-star Shona McGarty.

Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like the stars in relationships on this year’s show are looking to play away from home.

Dancing On Ice continues Sundays on ITV, with tonight’s show airing from 6pm.
