The 43-year-old actress, who famously lost her septum in 2000 due her excessive use of cocaine, sunk into deep depression earlier this year after she developed septicaemia - blood poisoning caused by bacteria or their toxins - in the roof of her mouth and, things got so bad after she split with her toy boy boyfriend George Arnold in August, that she tried to overdose on tablets.

Speaking on 'This Morning' on Tuesday (15.11.16), she said: "I was so depressed and George just got up one morning and he was gone. But he had his reasons and I wasn't very easy to live with because I was so depressed at the time because of the way I looked, I couldn't earn money and I felt I'd let him and the kids down. He didn't see it like that ... I did relapse because I felt my whole world was over when he just got up and went. It was like he'd never been there. I tried to overdose when George walked out but it turned out he never had a girlfriend before me and it was very difficult.

"When you relapse and you take drugs, you don't see that [leaving the kids]. All you see is selfishness and a way out.

"So you carry on taking more drugs because you're so low on such a comedown that you just think you want to kill yourself. I didn't overdose on cocaine. I was just taking tablets orally."

After she developed septicaemia, the former 'EastEnders' star was forced to have all of her teeth pulled out in order to give her the best chance at survival but, that in turn, plunged her into depression and she's still undergoing operations now to fix her face.

Danniella explained: "I had all my top teeth out and implants put in. It started to swell and turned into septicaemia. I've got a gum graft. I had an operation yesterday; I'm having another one tomorrow. I spent five weeks in the Royal London in the summer. I think the whole lot of it spiralled me into depression."

The blonde star was devastated because she had hoped her stint in the infamous 'Celebrity Big Brother' house, in which she made the final, last January would help get her career up and running.

She said: "Coming out of 'Celebrity Big Brother' should have been my busiest year. I got to the final, the public got behind me. I had the best time. I wish I could go back in there in January.

"I was getting back on my feet, I was busy, people got to know who I was. When I came out of there, this happened and I haven't been able to work all year, which just spiralled me into depression."

This isn't the first time Danniella has relapsed though, as she previously fell back off the wagon in 2014 when life got tough but, despite her recent overdose, she's determined to start 2017 in a positive way and is keen to focus on her work.

She explained: "I'm looking forward to Christmas. I'm going to have a positive time."
