Sam Strike as Johnny Carter

Sam Strike as Johnny Carter

Danny Dyer's new 'EastEnders' character will be shocked to find out the sexuality of his son.

Mick Carter is set to be surprised to discover Johnny (Sam Strike) has been hiding his sexuality from him after his sister Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) catches the 19 year old in the act with Albert Square's bisexual resident Danny Pennant (Gary Lucy) when kiss in a drunken exchange.

A show insider told the Daily Star newspaper: "Mick is a down-to-earth family man but Johnny has no idea how he will handle the news that he's gay.

"He's kept it a secret for a long time. How will Mick react?

"Will he be more angry that his son hasn't been honest than the fact that he fancies men? Only time will tell."

Johnny will attempt to keep his sexuality a secret for a bit by pretending to be interested in Walford's women before Shirley catches him out, and while he is worried about his dad's reaction, she is not bothered about him being gay partly because her sister Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White) is a lesbian.

'EastEnders' bosses have described Johnny as the "baby of the family" and a "mummy's boy" and teased he has a big secret that will place him "right at the centre of a family storm".
