Christina Dyer got back home after the 'EastEnders' star's nuptials in Hampshire last weekend to find 21 fire fighters battling the blaze at her two-storey abode in Canning Town, East London, after a heat lamp used to grow cannabis in her loft malfunctioned and started the destructive inferno.

The 59-year-old English teacher reportedly screeched, "Oh my God, what's happened?" when she realised her home had gone up in smoke.

A 29-year-old man - who was with Christina - has been held on suspicion of cultivation after police removed 120 plants, worth an estimated £30,000, from the loft.

A spokesman for London's Metropolitan Police told The Sun newspaper: "A man aged 29 was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and was bailed to appear at a police station in late November."

Firefighters spent 50 minutes battling the blaze, which saw smoke bellowing out of the damaged roof, as panicked neighbours watched on.

An onlooker told the publication: "We saw no flames, but an awful lot of smoke was coming through the roof. Christina came back around 2pm, dressed all in black. A scruffy guy in his 20s in a hoodie and cut-down shorts was with her.

"She ran round the corner shouting, 'Oh my God, what's happened? The snakes, the snakes.' I don't know if she keeps reptiles or was referring to someone's actions.

"She went inside as the police recovered the plants. I counted 120, all about 3ft tall and sticking out the top of brown paper bags. Then the guy was handcuffed and taken away."

It's believed Christina had spent the weekend with her son as she watched him finally tie the knot with his long-term partner Joanne Mas in the countryside.
