The 50-year-old TV presenter separated from the 'Pet Rescue' host in November 2017, but has revealed that they won't discuss their split in public for the sake of their three children - daughters Holly and Tilly and son Chester.

Asked about the breakdown of her marriage by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on ITV's 'This Morning', she explained: "Just for the record, because I think people might want to ask me about it ... I know know, they would think it was weird if you didn't. But for the sake of our kids, we've decided that we're just never going to talk about us.

"Because we've got three kids, and they're quite grown up and I ... we just don't want to talk about it in the public eye. So that's what we're doing."

Davina also addressed an emotional message she recently posted on her Instagram account, in which she reached out to anyone "feeling lonely" over Christmas.

The TV host revealed that, contrary to assumptions, she spent the special day with her estranged husband for the sake of their children.

Clarifying her intentions with the video, Davina shared: "I'd done that before. But I guess, naively, I hadn't really thought of the assumptions that would be made from making that video.

"I do always think about single people, people that are alone on those big days, like Valentine's Day or Christmas Day or New Year's Eve, when you're supposed to be having the best time ever.

"And you look at Instagram and everybody is having the best time ever - they're all probably lying. But it can be an incredibly lonely time, even if you're with a huge group of people if you're in the wrong head space or whatever.

"I thought I'd do a quick message and people took that as a cry for help that I was on my own. But, actually, Matthew and I decided for the kid's sake that we'd all be together this Christmas. So we were actually all together and I wasn't alone."
