Building on their shared DC universe, The CW have revealed that they'll be bringing Legends of Tomorrow to the small screen in January 2016.

Following on from the huge success of both Arrow and The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow is for now the final DC series to come to The CW, taking on many of the characters we've grown accustomed to, and introducing us to new faces of the DC universe in the process.

Taking The Atom, White Canary, Captain Cold, Heatwave and Firestorm on a journey through time is Rip Hunter, a British time traveller who's hoping to stop immortal villain Vandal Savage.

Glimpses of both the futures and pasts that the heroes will be travelling to in the show are given in this official second trailer, and Casper Crump's Vandal Savage is shown in more detail that we've seen before.

Hints of the team crumbling apart because of moral differences and personal history also look to play a big part in the series, and major special effects are showcased.

The trailer even gives a reference to both Superman and Batman, but it's unlikely that the pair will be making an appearance on the show any time soon.

Meanwhile, The Flash and Arrow are set for their annual crossover, returning to The CW on December 1 and December 2 respectively.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow starts Thursday, January 21 on The cW.
