Stranger Things was one of 2016’s biggest successes, introducing legions of viewers to a brand new world of supernatural entities and mystery. Coming off the back of its success at this year’s SAG Awards, more information is beginning to trickle out about the upcoming new episodes that will make up Stranger Things season 2.

Speaking to ET during the Producers Guild Awards, the Duffer Brothers spoke about some of the new additions to the cast which viewers will be introduced to during the series’ second season.

Praising Sean Astin, who’ll be tackling Bob Newby; the new boyfriend of Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), they said: “Sean Astin is a force. He’s gonna surprise. He’s just an incredible actor and he blows us away every day on set. Bob is new to our weird Hawkins group, but he’s immediately memorable and I think people are going to be very surprised by where that takes them this year.”

Paul Reiser also joins the cast, and the pair said of his casting: “I’ve been dreaming of Paul Reiser for a while and we got him in there! The character [he plays] was named Paul Reiser for a long time and we were just like, ‘We should just [reach out]. We should just see if he wants to do it.’ And he did want to do it because his kid liked it! He didn’t understand the show but his kid explained it.”

Stranger Things returns to Netflix later this year with its second season.
