The salesman - portrayed by Danny-Boy Hatchard - is already plagued with guilt after he arranged for his colleague and his pals to bombard his family's boozer last month, scare his relatives and snatch cash to help him settle his debt.

Christmas Day (25.12.16) saw the former Army boy arrested for robbery and later released without charge, but things are set to go from bad to worse for the depressive as Oz will pay him an unexpected visit at the pub this week.

Speaking about the storyline, a soap insider told The Sun newspaper that "Oz is on the cusp of outing Lee as the mastermind behind the terrifying robbery that saw his disabled brother manhandled by the masked attackers."

The source added to the publication: "Lee gets a shock when he finds Oz at The Vic having a drink with his family. Lee begins to panic when the topic of the robbery comes up but is Oz about to reveal the truth to (Lee's father) Mick?"

Viewers already know that Danny will bow out of the soap next year but, despite it initially being thought that he will kill himself over his debt, it's now believed his departure could have something to do with his involvement in the break in.

A source said at the time: "This (Danny leaving) was a tough decision but sometimes to create big storylines characters need to come and go."

Lee isn't the only one who has been written out of the soap as viewers are expected to sob into their tissues on New Year's Day (01.01.17) when double act Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell (Samantha Womack and Rita Simons) get killed off.

A soap insider teased: "Rita and Samantha created the iconic Mitchell sisters and with their undeniable chemistry, they immediately created a double act that the viewers fell in love with. But when they all sat down to work out where to take them, they all felt it was the right time to rest them.

"When you look back over nearly a decade and realise what they have been through, it seems that most avenues have been exhausted ... Bosses desperately wanted to keep the news of their departures a secret, but once the news about Samantha leaked out, it was only a matter of time before people worked out Rita would be going too.

"It's a shame as it would have been a great surprise for the audience but there are still lots of twists to come before they leave our screens."
