Elektra (Elodie Young) may have made her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe earlier this year when Daredevil season 2 came to Netflix, but it wasn't until earlier today (November 7) that confirmation came about her being included in upcoming series, The Defenders.

Bringing together Daredevil with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, the series will also see appearances from Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Misty Knight (Simone Missick) and Trish Walker (Rachel Taylor).

Perhaps what is most surprising about Elektra's inclusion in The Defenders is that it comes after her murder in Daredevil's second season. Viewers in the know however would have realised that the character was going to be resurrected by The Hand, with the final shot of the season hinting she could become an adversary for Daredevil and co. moving forward.

None of this has yet been confirmed, but it would make sense given the direction the story has been going in to-date.

Daredevil seasons 1-2 are available now on Netflix, alongside Jessica Jones and Luke Cage season 1. Iron Fist premieres on March 17, 2017, whilst The Defenders will also debut later in 2017.
