Some details about her character have been revealed with the news, with Davis stepping into the shoes of an actress starring in a play called The Bloody Hand. The play itself is meant to reflect the world of Westeros, and Davis gets to play a version of Cersei Lannister on the stage.

Though the show now has to go into territory unknown for fans since there are no further published books for them to read as of yet, the subplot of the play does indeed come from author George R.R. Martin, who alluded to it in a previously released chapter of his next 'A Song of Ice and Fire' novel, The Winds of Winter.

With the recent news that Richard E. Grant has also signed on to star in the show, Vanity Fair is reporting that Grant will be playing the leader of the theatre group staging the play.

Max von Sydow was also announced to be taking over the role of the Three-Eyed-Raven, with Deadwood's Ian MacShane also making his debut, in a role that hasn't yet been revealed.

Production on Game of Thrones' sixth season is currently underway, with the show returning in April next year.
