Game Of Thrones cast members are now to be paid $300,000 per episode.

Five of the biggest stars of the show - Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster and Lena Headey - have all landed bumper payrises after a series of meetings and talks with show producers.

In return, they've agreed to extend their deals to a seventh season of the fantasy drama.

According to Deadline, none of the cast members negotiated together and new contracts were negotiated first by Kit, Lena and Emilia - who play Jon Snow, Cersei Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen respectively.

They were followed by on-screen brothers Tyrion and Jaime Lannister - played by Peter and Nikolaj.

It is thought that the show uses a tiered system for members of the cast, with those earning the highest $300,000 per episode classed as the 'A tier'.

Now in line for a pay rise and contract extensions are B tier actresses Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams who play Sansa and Arya Stark, and Natalie Dormer who portrays Margaery Tyrell.

Despite now being committed to a seventh season of the series, there's no guarantee that they'll be needed for that long as they could be killed off at any point.

George R.R. Martin - author of the book series - is known for throwing a spanner in the works and sometimes killing off the most popular characters.

He's yet to finish the book series which the show is based on.
