The 45-year-old singer has been busy working on his upcoming star-search contest but is enjoying his sometimes Take That bandmate's new music and is hoping the 'Party Like A Russian' singer will promote his LP 'Heavy Entertainment Show' on the programme.

He said: "We heard most of [Robbie's] music over the summer. It's been a few years since he had a record, so it's time, it feels good.

"I hope he will be coming on the show, maybe the final."

The 'Patience' hitmaker is enjoying working on the programme as it feels "good and real", though it has taken a lot of work.

He explained: "I've been writing my parts for the next album, taking meetings, and a lot of time lately has been spent on developing 'Let It Shine'. Doing TV shows takes time - not just the filming but the mechanics of it.

"It's not like a live show or doing a tour. There's a lot of people and a lot of rules because you are putting it on in front of a load of people on a Saturday night.

"But it feels good and it feels real, because it is - there is a real end to it, there is a real job at the end of it for everyone."

Though Gary - who has children Daniel, 16, Emily 14, and Daisy, seven, with wife Dawn - is incredibly busy at the moment, he wouldn't have it any other way.

He told HELLO! magazine: "I've got so many projects that I've been working on for about four years - like 'The Girls', the musical for the West End, but then they just come out at the same time. It is full-on, but I love it."
