Gordon Ramsay will be joining ITV as he quits Channel 4 at the end of his current contract.

The TV chef - who has fronted numerous programmes on Channel 4 over the years, including 'The F Word' and 'Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares' - is in "advanced talks" to move to ITV after deciding not to renew his contract with his long-time TV home.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "It would be a massive coup for ITV and execs are really excited about the prospect of landing him. Talks have been going really well.

"Gordon doesn't think Channel 4 is the right fit for him any more and has been gradually winding down his work with them over the last 12 months.

"He wants to come back with a bang - and ITV is the place to do it."

The 47-year-old culinary expert is reportedly being eyed to host a show similar to 'Hell's Kitchen', which he fronted for ITV in 2004. Gordon also stars in the US version of the cookery competition, which is a ratings winner for FOX.

ITV bosses hope to have the foul-mouthed chef on screens in 2015 after his contract with Channel 4 ends this summer.

Gordon's final programme for Channel 4 will be a new series of 'Kitchen Nightmares'.

The insider added: "'Kitchen Nightmares' first aired 10 years ago and is one of the most popular formats, not only in the UK but Stateside too. It seems fitting that this will be the last thing he does for Channel 4."
