Shonda Rhimes is a woman who seems to know the perfect recipe for a hit show. Now she and fans of some of her biggest series can rest assured we’re going to get more of Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, as all three have been renewed earlier than usual by ABC.

This means Grey’s Anatomy will be moving into Season 14 in the fall, whilst Scandal will kick off a seventh season and How to Get Away with Murder will start a fourth.

ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey announced: “Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder continue to keep viewers on the edge of their seats and wanting more. I’m thrilled to bring back these shows and the OMG moments that come with them.”

Deadline say that the core cast of Grey’s Anatomy will all be returning, including Ellen Pompeo and Justin Chambers who play Meredith and Alex respectively. Fans shouldn’t get their hopes up for a romance between the two characters however, as Chambers admitted the pair share a relationship like “siblings” rather than lovers.

He said: “That happens in life, where people who are friends become lovers. Personally, I don’t see that [happening] right now. I think it would be kind of strange.”

Grey’s Anatomy continues Thursdays alongside Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder on ABC in the US.
