Members of cast have been spotted filming in Burghclere, Hampshire, as the ITV period drama shoots its sixth and final series.

Hugh Bonneville - who plays Mr. Carson - is seen wearing a smart suit with a summer flower ready for his big day. However, Phyllis Logan, who plays Mrs. Hughes, was nowhere to be seen, most likely trying to hide her wedding dress from onlookers.

Another character who is expected to get her happy ending is Lady Edith Crawley, played by Laura Carmichael, who was spotted with new man Bertie Pelham, played by Harry Hadden-Paton.

After filming the wedding scenes, the cast and crew moved over to Lincoln Inn Fields to shoot another scene with Lady Crawley.

Downton Abbey is the highest rating UK drama of the past decade across any channel, with an average of 11 million viewers over the course of the five series, including Christmas specials but, while the period drama is coming to an end on TV, creator Julian Fellowes has previously admitted that he would be keen on turning it into a movie.

He said: "Instead of having to tailor it for a television budget, you could really give it some welly."
