The 53-year-old comedian will compete against the likes of Terri Hatcher, Ruth Davidson, Jamie Laing and Kate Moss' sister Lottie in the new series, which is due to air in March.

A source explained: "Channel 4 are over the moon.

"He'll bring a really funny side to the show, and producers hope he will bounce off hosts Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig.

"He also knows judge Paul Hollywood well, so hopefully their chemistry will come across well."

Harry - whose real name is Matthew Hall - is a long-time fan of the baking show, and he had no hesitations about accepting the invitation.

The insider told The Sun newspaper: "He's been a big fan of the show for some time so jumped at the chance to take part, plus it's for a good cause."

Meanwhile, in December, Harry revealed he had a falling out with Simon Cowell after he made the entertainment mogul "look a bit of an idiot".

The comedian claimed he's been given the cold shoulder by Simon ever since making stage show 'I Can't Sing' in 2014, which was based around 'The X Factor'.

Harry says Simon sent him an email after seeing the show which asked him to make adjustments to his character, and when he decided to "ignore" the messages, Simon ceased all contact with him.

Harry said: "He sent me an email after he came to one of the previews and the email said some very good points about lighting and sound because he is a good producer.

"But he added however, 'I feel my character, the character of Simon Cowell, is made to look a bit of an idiot'. And I thought 'uh-oh'.

"I just ignored them. I thought that was the best bet. It is fine - I haven't heard from him since."
