Helen Skelton has quit 'Blue Peter'.

The 30-year-old TV presenter - who joined the programme in 2008 - announced on yesterday's (08.08.13) episode that she is to depart the show at the end of September.

She said: "[I'll] always count my time on 'Blue Peter' as one of the most special times of my life. However, 'Blue Peter' is a 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year job, and with so many exciting new projects in the pipeline, I can't be there as much as I would like, so I've made the difficult decision to hang up my badge."

CBBC 'Wild' co-host Radzi Chinyanganya will take over as Helen starts her new role as a BT Sport presenter at the end of September.

He will team up with fellow new presenter Lindsey Russell, who was voted in as the show's 36th presenter by CBBC viewers in July, as well as Barney Harwood.

Speaking about Helen, CBBC controller Cheryl Taylor said: "[She is] an outstanding presenter and a fabulously adventurous role model."

During her time on the show Helen became known for taking part in huge challenges, such as becoming the first woman to kayak the entire length of the Amazon.
