ITV is looking to bring back Sunday Night At The Palladium.
The family-friendly variety programme, which was hosted by the likes of Sir Bruce Forsyth and Jimmy Tarbuck, is expected to make a comeback in September - under the new title 'Live at the Palladium' - and bosses hope to attract big names from the world of music, comedy and drama to perform on the famous stage at the London Palladium theatre.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "'Sunday Night at the London Palladium' was a phenomenon at the time and we want to bring that buzz back.
"Britain always loved a variety show and we've seen with the success of 'Britain's Got Talent' that is still true today. But while 'BGT' is unknown performers we want an hour of true stars bringing top entertainment.
"We want ITV to be the go-to place for family entertainment."
'Sunday Night at the Palladium' pulled in highs of 28 million viewers during its initial run from 1955 to 1967.
The show drafted in some of the biggest stars on the planet to perform at the London Palladium, including The Beatles, Judy Garland, Sammy Davis Jr., the Rolling Stones and Liberace.
The new show is planned for a six-episode run but ITV hopes to extend that if it proves popular.
