The 'Dancing on Ice' champion is said to have held discussions with the producers about landing a new role on the show after being considered for a potential part "for a while".

An insider said: "Jake is someone who the casting directors have had in mind for a while."

The 29-year-old star is said to have been talked about as a potential 'Hollyoaks' star years ago, and it looks increasing like he could appear in the famous fictional village soon after he "convinced people" he could be a hit with Oaks fans.

The insider added to The Sun newspaper: "He was approached several years ago but there wasn't really a suitable role at the time. Now there are opportunities for him to join and he's very well liked.

"He has convinced people he'd be a great addition to the cast."

Should Jake join the cast he will no doubt be hoping his character steers clear of Duncan James' killer alter-ego Ryan Knight after he bumped off his own uncle, DS Geoff Thorpe (James Bradshaw), on Monday night (26.03.18).

Thorpe finally discovered Ryan killed his ex-wife Amy Barnes (Ashley Slanina-Davies) last year, but he didn't know the secret for long because he met his maker soon afterwards when Ryan choked him to death with a necklace given to him by Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) minutes before.

However, it doesn't look good for Ryan as soon after he'd committed the crime Glenn Donovan (Bob Cryer) walked in to find him slumped over the dead detective.

It comes just days after Duncan dropped a huge hint Ryan might murder once again.

When asked if he is looking forward to his calculated character being found out for Amy's murder, he said: "Of course, because Ryan has hurt innocent people.

"But I wouldn't put it past him to kill again."
