The 42-year-old actor - who announced earlier this week he's leaving his role as Warren Fox in 'Hollyoaks' - is looking forward to flying out to Australia and getting stuck into the tough challenges on the reality TV contest.

A source said: "This is a really exciting time for him. He can't wait to get into the camp, meet his campmates and get stuck into the challenges.

"He isn't daunted by any of the trials at the moment, but let's see what happens when he gets out there."

And bosses are said to be hoping the hunky actor - who was previously married to Kym Marsh - will catch the eye of one of the female contestants, who are believed to include The Saturdays singer Vanessa White and 'Made in Chelsea' star Georgia Toffolo.

The insider added to The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Jamie is a good-looking single guy so they are hoping sparks will fly with one of the single girls in the camp.

"There will be plenty of gorgeous girls in there he could end up hitting it off with.

"And the bosses know viewers love a jungle romance. Jamie is a really down-to-earth, funny bloke but also doesn't suffer fools. So they think he's a great signing."

A spokesperson for the show refused to confirm whether Jamie will be on the programme.

The actor announced a few days ago he's set to bow out of 'Hollyoaks' - in which he originally starred from 2006 to 2011 before returning last year - but won't rule out another stint in the future.

He said: "He's such a fun character to play - playing baddies are the best characters to play on TV. I've been very fortunate that Bryan Kirkwood (the show's executive producer) is a huge friend of mine - an amazing person as well. Creating Warren, 'Hollyoaks' have done such an amazing job and I'm eternally grateful for giving me that opportunity.

"I'm just going to try other things and I like to go in and then have a little time there and then go out. Who knows? Maybe I'll go back in time and who knows? I think I've just given you that [he's not going to be killed off]."
