Fans have been waiting for The Walking Dead's season 7 premiere for some time now, anxiously hoping to find out who was on the receiving end of Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) barbed wire baseball bat, Lucille.

Now though, the actor behind Negan has confirmed that the season's first episode will feature more than one death at his character's hands.

Speaking to Den of Geek, he said: "Negan's not just going to kill one person in [the first episode]. He's not afraid of bashing in skulls.

"I'll be interested to see how the fans handle it. It's going to be a lot more than the people are expecting. You're about to see someone that you love just f**king take it."

What we do know is that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) isn't the first to fall due to Negan's actions, following the release of new footage that saw him trying to stand up to Negan after the death of one of his group, before being dragged into a campervan by the villain.

There's not long to wait now, with only 9-10 days before the show's return, depending on where you live…

The Walking Dead returns to AMC in the US on Sunday, October 23 and to FOX in the UK the day after on Monday, October 24.
