Working his way through Team Arrow's enemies hidden only by the shadows of night, John Diggle has up until now remained certain that he doesn't need a special suit or costume to carry out his duties. The end of the third season of Arrow however saw him promise that he would go forth wearing a disguise, as the authorities got tough on vigilantes carrying out their own justice.

Fans have been anxiously awaiting to see just what Diggle would be wearing ever since the announcement, with a small glimpse being given at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego, but no official images released - until now.

The CW took to their social media accounts to share a first look image of season 4 Diggle yesterday (September 3), and the first thing anybody will notice when looking at it is the huge helmet and chinstrap concealing his face. He pairs it with a brilliant black leather jacket, and some seem to suggest that this could be the first step in Diggle's evolution to taking on the role of DC Comics hero The Guardian.

Fan response has largely been one of confusion, with many noting how similar Diggle looks to Marvel's Magneto, but it's safe to say that whilst costumes can sometimes look brilliant in their promotional pictures, they always look a lot better when it comes to seeing them in action on-screen.

Arrow's fourth season debuts on The CW in the US on Wednesday, October 7 at 8pm/7 central.
