Jorgie Porter and Sylvain Longchambon

Jorgie Porter and Joe Pasquale are the first celebrities to be eliminated from Dancing on Ice.

The 'Hollyoaks' stunner was in floods of tears after being told she and her professional partner Sylvain Longchambon - who managed the third highest score of the evening - had to leave the competition following the public vote, while comedian Joe lost out to Bonnie Langford in a skate-off.

Host Philip Schofield attempted to comfort an emotional Jorgie by telling her the voting was "incredibly close" after revealing the result.

He said: "You look really sad, really disappointed. That was a lot of hard work, wasn't it? This is a series of favourites and champions and you are a champion to be here."

Joe and his professional partner Robin Johnstone's dance to 'Flash Gordon' failed to win the judges' affections as all four panellists, Ashley Roberts, Robin Cousins, Karen Barber and Jason Gardiner, voted to save Bonnie and her partner Andrei Lipanov, who performed to 'Baby It's Cold Outside'.

Jason said: "Bonnie you have improved and you are the total package, Joe you have improved but I am saving Bonnie."

Robin added: "Some of the professionals would like to skate like that. I'm saving Bonnie."

Former 'X Factor' star Ray Quinn - who won 'Dancing on Ice' in 2009 - and retired rugby player Kyran Bracken shared the spoils at the top of the leaderboard after they both achieved 29.5 points each with their respective partners.

Following the opening night's performances, Ray has been backed into 10/11 favourite with bookmakers Paddy Power, who have seen 10 times more money staked on him than any other contestant.

A Paddy Power spokesperson said: "Following the opening weekend of 'Dancing on Ice' it is odds-on that Ray Quinn wins the Champion of Champions title."
