The 90-year-old actress missed out on winning the Best Leading Actress gong at the British Academy Television Awards in 2009 for her role as Dot Cotton in the BBC soap, and her colleagues were left bitter by the snub they created their own mock accolade out of tin foil, which takes prize possession alongside the other awards the show has received.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the Television and Radio Industries Club award [TRIC] at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Tuesday (14.03.17), Perry Fenwick - who plays the role of Billy Mitchell in the programme - said: "They should have a rethink about that BAFTA . I think they made a real rig of it a few years ago. I think they need to have a think about that. She deserved that."

Harry Reid -who stars as Ben Mitchell - added: "We even awarded her her own one [BAFTA]."

Perry, 54, explained: "Yes, one which was made out of tin foil. A NAFTA. We have it in the trophy cabinet at work amongst all the real BAFTA's but she should have got a real one."

And the chain-smoking character's colleagues have vowed to take strike action if June fails to be recognised at the 2017 British Academy Television Awards, which will take place in May this year.

Jamie Borthwick - who plays Jay Brown - said: "We will all strike so if she until she wins it there'll be no show."

And the 'EastEnders' team will force June to continue acting even if she wants to retire by "shoving" scripts in front of her.

Emma Barton - who is Perry's on-screen partner Honey - said: "She will never slow down."

Harry added: "We will shove the material at her."
