The 62-year-old actor has played Buster Briggs in the BBC One soap for two years but has now decided to say goodbye to Albert Square and has already filmed his final scenes.

According to website Digital Spy, details of Buster's exit are being kept under wraps but it's thought the storyline will centre around his relationship with Shirley Carter and his affair with Kathy Beale.

Buster has recently seen his romance with Shirley (Linda Henry) fizzle out so has sought comfort in the form of Kathy (Gilliam Taylforth),

However, Shirley is unaware of his betrayal and would be heartbroken if she ever found out.

Buster arrived in Albert Square in 2014 and it was revealed he was Shirley's ex and the father of Mick Carter and Dean Wicks.

His exit will air in a few weeks' time.

Speaking about joining 'EastEnders', Karl has previously said: "It is an honour to have joined such an iconic show. I've had a lovely welcome. The twists and turns, character and plots that are coming make it all the more exciting for me."

Soap boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins revealed he had been chasing the actor for a while.

He admitted: "We have been trying to get Karl to join 'EastEnders' for a long time and it's fantastic that it's happened.

"An authentic Londoner with grit, sparkle and a touch of danger, Karl is the perfect fit for this new character."
