Lesley Joseph has hinted a 'Birds of a Feather'/'Benidorm' crossover series could be in the works.

The 70-year-old actress - who plays Dorien Green in the long-running sitcom alongside Linda Robson (Tracey Stubbs) and Pauline Quirke (Sharon Theodopolopodos) - is keen to team up with the stars of the comedy series to shoot a special series in the Spanish seaside resort.

She said: "We're waiting to hear what we're going to do. We're not sure at the moment but ITV have loved it and we're all waiting to hear if we're doing another series or a special. I want to go abroad.

"Linda Robson is queen of the tweets and somebody tweeted her, 'Why don't we do 'Birds' meets 'Benidorm'?'

"Can you actually imagine 'Birds of a Feather' go to Benidorm? It would just be a match made in heaven."

But it doesn't look like Lesley will be following in the footsteps of her 'Birds of a Feather' co-star Linda by joining the 'Loose Women' panel anytime soon - because she is far too busy.

Speaking on the daytime panel show, Lesley, who is currently starring in a musical version of 'Annie', added: "There's never really been time to be honest.

"I know a lot of people say, 'Work dries up for people as they get older and I have to say, touch wood, I'm very superstitious, that it's been the opposite really."

'Birds of a Feather' originally aired from 1989 to 1998 but returned to our screens in January 2014 and has run for 12 series in total.

'Benidorm' first graced our screens in February 2007 and the eighth series finished in February this year.

The show's ninth and 10th series have been both been commissioned and cast members have started filming the former.

However, Tim Healy will not appear as Les/Lesley Conroy in the ninth series.

The 64-year-old actor was written out of the next batch of episodes after being struck down with a mystery illness last month which left him "fighting for his life" in hospital.

It wouldn't be the first time ITV has aired a crossover episode.

In 2004, 'Bad Girls' and 'Footballers' Wives' joined forces for three episodes.

'Footballers Wives' character Tanya Turner, played by Zoe Lucker, was sent to prison and wound up in Bad Girls' Larkhall jail.
