The success of Netflix original true crime documentary series Making A Murderer came as quite a shock to a lot of people. The show itself would go on to inspire a whole slew of new entries into on screen investigations of real life cases, and at the back end of last year, it undeniably served a huge part in seeing Brendan Dassey’s conviction overturned.

Now a second season of the show is underway, which will continue to follow the story as Steven Avery battles to clear his name.

Netflix Original Content VP Cindy Holland admits that whilst they “don’t know for sure when new episodes will be coming”, they’ll reach the streaming service at some point this year.

They explained: “[Creators] Laura [Riccardi] and Moira [Demos] are shooting regularly and working on what the right story is to tell in the next set, so we’re deferring to them on when it will be ready. Very few people inside of Netflix actually know the details of what we’re getting because we’re wanting to keep it really under wraps and it is an ongoing case so we’re trying to be sensitive to that.”

Making A Murderer season 2 premieres at some point in 2017.
