The 82-year-old TV star, who is best known as a judge on 'The Great British Bake Off', has reportedly turned her attention away from the kitchen and is instead focusing her efforts on teaching fans to clean their toilets and setting their table for a formal meal.

Mary said, according to The Sun newspaper: "I am so excited about working on this new project.

"This book will be filled with the wisdom I gleaned from my mother and other tips I have picked up throughout my life, which I am delighted to share with you all.

"I hope it will be informative as well as entertaining."

'Mary's Household Tips and Tricks' is set to be released in October, and is being billed as an illustrated guide to home maintenance.

Meanwhile, Prue Leith recently insisted there are no hard feelings between herself and Mary, even though Prue is set to assume her role on 'The Great British Bake Off'.

The restaurateur said there's "no competition" between the pair as they've been friends for what feels like "a hundred years".

Prue said: "We started together and we've been friends for a hundred years. There wasn't really competition because she was doing much more telly than me for a long time.

"And then I was doing more telly than her and she was doing all the Aga stuff. Then I started doing 'The Great British Menu' and she started doing 'The Great British Bake Off' about five years later."

Mary served as a judge on the show between 2010 and 2016 - but decided against following the programme from the BBC to Channel 4 after Love Productions announced a three-year deal with the broadcaster in September last year.
