The former 'Great British Bake Off' judge has admitted to Darcey Bussell on 'Mary Berry's Christmas Party' that she "wouldn't be able to do a step" if she were to take part in the ballroom and latin show - but the panellist believes she'd be wonderful.

Speaking on the show, Mary told Darcey: "I think your skills are brilliant. I know that if you asked me to dance I wouldn't be able to do a step. Yet here you are making this meringue and doing it so beautifully."

Darcey replied: "You'd be doing millions of beautiful steps, I know you would."

However, it seems the 82-year-old culinary queen may need a little more persuasion as she joked not long ago that her husband Paul J.M. Hunnings, whom she married in 1996, would divorce her if she signed up to the competition.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz recently, she said: "I'd never ever ever ever do it. I'm the most clumsy person. My husband would leave me and my children would chuck me out so I'm not doing 'Strictly Come Dancing' by a mile."

Meanwhile, the loveable kitchen mastermind has admitted she didn't have to think twice about walking away from 'GBBO' last year after she found out that Channel 4 had swiped the rights to the format from the BBC in a mega-money deal.

She explained: "I think the 'Great British Bake Off' is such a wonderful programme and it's got all the young baking, it's got some of the fathers baking and even some more mums. Everyone is enjoying. On a wet day, what's better than baking?.

"I've done seven series on 'Bake Off' and I've loved every single one of them but I felt I wanted to stay with the BBC. I'm doing lots with them. I have nothing but great memories of the 'Great British Bake Off'. It's moving on, it'll be different but just wait and see."
