Celebrities on the show are to be invited for a cup of tea and chat with the hosts, invited to stick around until the end of the show and face questions from those in the audience.

Surprises may come in the form of challenges and those scheduled to appear in the first week of programmes alone include the incredible Jennifer Saunders, Dermot O'Leary, Jo Brand, Pauline Quirke, Lesley Joseph, Linda Robson and Gemma Arterton.

Speaking of the show, Mel said: "I've been asked to host a show with somebody called PORKIN? PARKIN..? PORTLY..? I've never heard of her - but I'll be very happy to meet her soon."

Sue added: "I very much look forward to working with Mel again, although, for legal reasons, we will now be at least one metre apart at all times."

Director of Daytime at ITV, Helen Warner commented: "I've been a big Mel & Sue fan for years and I'm thrilled their new show will be part of the ITV Daytime schedule. Both are brilliant broadcasters and comedians and bring a unique warmth and charisma as presenters."

Mel & Sue broadcasts daily, starting from Monday, January 12 at 4pm on ITV.
