The 'Autumn Watch' presenter is a huge fan of the popular sci-fi series that follows the eccentric life of the Time Lord - currently played by Peter Capaldi - and has already planned how her guest role will pan out in helping him save the world.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Michaela said: "I just think it would be great if suddenly Doctor Who was going to save the planet and all the wildlife and I could be a special guest, and Chris (Packham) could be Doctor Who. I can see it now.

"I don't want to be the assistant because I'm a bit old for that. But you know, a guest role. Kylie Minogue has had a guest role, various people have, so I'd love it."

'Hot Fuzz' star Simon Pegg, 'The Great Gatsby' actress Carey Mulligan and 'Fawlty Towers' legend John Cleese have all appeared in the show since it was reborn in 2005.

And the adventurous presenter - who rose to fame on the long-running BBC series 'The Really Wild Show' alongside fellow wildlife expert Chris Packham - says she's watched all the series with her ten-year-old son Oliver at their home in South Africa.

Speaking at the National Lottery Stars in London Studios, she said: "I got obsessed with it. I get all the DVDs over.

"It would be so cool for my little boy if I was in 'Doctor Who'. He thought I was really cool when I did 'Splash'. The only way to top that is 'Doctor Who'."
