Michelle Dockery says the new series of 'Downton Abbey' feels like a "new beginning".
The star - who plays Lady Mary Crawley in the period drama - has explained the show will truly move into the 1920s and it has been "fun" exploring the era.
She said: "We're really in the 1920s now. Last series it felt as if we were just edging into that period, but this season it felt as if there was an energy that's very much about that era.
"Characters such as Lady Edith and Lady Rose represent the bright young things of the 1920s with the music, the dresses and the jazz.
"There's definitely a feeling of another new beginning. The tiaras are out again and there's fun in a lot of the episodes."
The 31-year-old actress also admitted she found it "strange" being without her former co-star and on-screen husband Dan Stevens, whose character Matthew Crawley died in a car crash on the Christmas Day (25.12.12) episode.
She added: "We all keep in contact and as far as I know, he's still in New York and doing incredibly well. We're all very proud of him. We all saw his play ['The Heiress'] in New York and he was brilliant.
"Most of my scenes in series three were with Dan so it was very strange not having him around.
"But fresh characters come in and it's always great to have new people around."
