Michelle Keegan admitted her family struggled with the knowledge she wouldn't be able to return to 'Coronation Street'.

Despite initially being told the door would remain open once she left the soap, the decision was made to have her character Tina McIntyre killed off and her father "took it really badly".

Michelle Keegan has admitted her family has struggled with her exit from the soap, particularly after it was decided her character would be killed off.

Keegan said "I couldn't actually speak. They were saying they thought Tina deserved to go out with a bang and that this was going to be a massive thing for me, but I was just thinking: 'I'm not coming back - this really is the end'.

"I couldn't take much of it in. My family were really upset, particularly my dad, who's been a massive 'Corrie' fan all his life and took it really badly."

She also revealed her fiance Mark Wright has been extremely "supportive" while she was filming her exit storyline.

She told The Sun newspaper's TV Magazine: "Mark is so supportive of me. He used used to rehearse my 'Corrie' lines with me ... He came up to watch me film my final scene, which was tough for him because it was so emotional for me.

"The way Tina dies involves a fall and when it came to filming, I was terrified as well as upset. I was just falling to pieces."
