Speaking about the show, Groening says: “Ultimately, Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”

Throughout the series, viewers will be whisked away to Dreamland; a crumbling medieval kingdom that plays host to a variety of intriguing and unique characters. Hard-drinking young princess Bean, her personal demon Luci and her feisty elf companion Elfo will take centre-stage in the show, encountering ogres, sprites, trolls, imps, harpies, walruses and plenty of human fools along the way.

Abbi Jacobson lends her voice to Bean, with Nat Faxon as Elfo and Eric Andre as Luci. John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery also feature, with animation from Rough Draft Studios (Futurama).

Vice President of Original Content for Netflix, Cindy Holland comments: “Matt Groening’s brilliant work has resonated with generations around the world and we couldn’t be happier to work with him on Disenchantment. The series will bear his trademark animation style and biting wit, and we think it’s a perfect fit for our many Netflix animation fans.”

Produced by The ULULU Company for Netflix, with Groening and Josh Weinstein serving as executive producers, Disenchantment will premiere at some point in 2018.
