1990s children's television was some of the best and fans of that era can now look forward to a new one being ushered in if a new report from Variety is to be believed, as the Nickelodeon network is apparently thinking about reviving some of the classics.

President of content and development at Nickelodeon, Russell Hicks commented: "We are looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way... We are getting ready to bring back some of the ones [older fans have] told us multiple times they want to have brought back".

The network is said to be looking at all their options, and the shows could come back as one-off specials and feature films rather than full seasons. Variety's report states that whilst the development of these revivals is a possibility, it won't be the company's main focus.

This follows recent news that Cartoon Network's Powerpuff Girls would be coming back with a new version set to broadcast next year, and statistics that say Nickelodeon has lost traction to competitors including Disney Channel and Cartoon Network.

Despite that, the broadcaster won't want to be known as the network that only makes waves because of its past, and will hopefully continue to push the boundaries of children's television, bringing fresh and unique content to viewers.
