The 29-year-old actress' alter-ego Nicola Rubenstein will give birth in terrible circumstances when her serial killer father Phelan (Connor McIntyre) heads back to Weatherfield next week desperate for revenge after he admitted to his killing spree and was then left for dead in March, but he may not "go through" with his plotting.

Nicola said: "I can tell you there is a gun. There is a baby, and there may be blood.

"I get to give birth, which isn't under nice circumstances, as you'd imagine from a soap, and Phelan's back and he wants revenge.

"I think he wouldn't be a great villain if he didn't have some human emotion in him.

"That's what's great about the writers - they haven't just made him an out-and-out villain.

"He does have a human side, and maybe he won't go through with what he has planned. Or maybe he will, we'll find out."

While Phelan's murdering ways are to be explored again next week, Lucy Fallon has revealed her character Bethany Platt's horrific grooming plot will also be revisited in the near future.

She said: "We're going to see the story revisited in a different way. We're currently filming the development of the storyline, which is going to come as a surprise ... not only to Bethany but to everybody as well. All of the Platts. It's very exciting."

Another huge 'Corrie' storyline will see Catherine Tyldesley depart her role as Eva Price this summer after seven years on the soap, and the actress is already feeling teary about her exit.

In a joint interview on 'This Morning', she added: "I'm a bit emotional. I've been there seven years but there's loads of juicy stuff coming up.

"The door is being left open. We'll see what happens.

"I love it here, it's been my home for seven years. I spend more time here than my actual home."
