The 'Strictly Come Dancing' winner - who lifted the glitterball trophy last year after he pipped Danny Mac and Louise Redknapp to the post - has admitted he can't wait to start a family with his spouse Portia, who he married in 2015, as they've been discussing it for over six years.

Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper, he said: "Portia and I can't wait to have kids. I want three, she says two. We had only been dating two weeks when the subject of kids came up!"

The pair were forced to spend time apart at the end of last year because of the 31-year-old sports presenter's dancing stint on the ballroom and latin show and he admitted at the time that he found it difficult to be away from one another for such a long period of time.

He said: "It's been incredibly difficult not being together day to day. With her living up North, we've had to spend a lot of time apart. It has been stressful and strenuous. I'd imagine it's not easy to be a 'Strictly' partner. She had her own work, family and friends in Manchester but then you've got the 24/7 support role that is being my wife. She had it full-on but she loved it."

But lifting the famous dance gong has always been a dream of his and he's thrilled he's managed to achieve that and marry the love of his life within a space of 12 months.

He said: "The thought of getting married and being on 'Strictly' were from a very young age. I dreamt of being a sports broadcaster but it was more of an ambition. However, it's out of my hands finding someone you want to spend the rest of your life with. And being on 'Strictly' is out of control. It's a dream, I can't believe I've done two of those things in a year."
