Over two 60-minute episodes, Piers will attempt to gain a full understanding of three complex cases, venturing behind bars to come face-to-face with women who have committed terrible crimes. Doing so, he hopes to discover exactly what it was that drove the women to kill and investigate the truth behind each of the three cases.

One of the women Piers will meet is a teenager, convicted of having her mother and brothers murdered as they slept in the family home. The second is a femme fatale accused of luring in her millionaire oilman boyfriend to a romantic meeting before pumping him full of bullets. Lastly, the third was sent to prison for killing her own daughter in a fit of rage.

Each of the stories will see Piers encounter these women who now face decades and, in one case their entire life behind bars.

Interviews will take place inside the maximum security prison which the killers now call home, with Piers also meeting those whose lives have been changed by the events that took place.

Killer Women with Piers Morgan has been commissioned for ITV by Jo Clinton-Davis, Controller of Factual at the network.

She comments: "Female killers remain a relatively rare breed and the access that Plum Pictures have secured presents a unique opportunity for Piers to bring viewers a genuine insight into the characters and circumstances of women who have committed the ultimate crime."

Series Director at Plum Pictures, Stuart Cabb adds: "This is Piers as we have not seen him before… But he is so well suited to this genre. Years of honing his interview technique really paid off in some compelling confrontations with some of America's most infamous female killers."
