Supernatural, dark comedy drama series Preacher is set to exclusively launch on Amazon Prime Video in the UK, Austria, Germany and Japan it's been revealed this morning (May 18).

Produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and showrunner Sam Catlin, the show is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's comic book, following a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer.

Dominic Cooper takes on the role of Jesse, who is "inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power."

Ruth Negga will step into the role of Jesse's "badass ex-girlfriend" Tulip, whilst Joseph Gilgun is onboard as "Irish vagabond" Cassidy.

Coming together, they're "thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between."

Vice President of Worldwide Television Acquisition for amazon, Brad Beale comments: "Preacher is one of the most ambitious and highly-anticipated new series of the year, and exactly the kind of show we want to bring our Prime members around the world.

"Sitting alongside shows like The Man in the High Castle, Transparent, Mr Robot, Fear The Walking Dead and the upcoming Clarkson, Hammond and May show, The Grand Tour, Preacher is another great addition to our line-up and we think our customers are going to love it."

Prime members will have access to the first episode from Monday May 23, with the second launching on Monday June 6, the day after its US premiere. All new episodes from that point will launch weekly on Mondays.
