The 43-year-old presenter admitted she is feeling "pretty scared" about taking part in the BBC's Latin and ballroom competition, and is so nervous she "can't eat".

Appearing on ITV's 'Good Morning Britain', she said: "I weighed myself this morning. I've lost half a stone.

"I'm not even joking ... I'm so scared, I can't eat."

Her 'GMB' co-star Piers Morgan urged Ranvir to be "ruthless" on the programme, like his co-host Susanna Reid was when she competed back in 2013.

He added: "You've got to be ruthless, like Susanna was. She's the most competitive person who pretends it's not all about the winning."

Ranvir's weight loss comes after she "put on a stone" during the coronavirus lockdown this year, and joked she might need to wear spandex rather than sequins.

She recently said: "It's no secret, I've put on a stone during lockdown. So I pity the poor wardrobe people.

"I said to them, 'Listen, I don't mind what you do on the outside, what I care about is the strength of the support underwear. It has to be the best you've got, just suck it all in.

"I'll have fat earlobes, fat ankles and fat fingers because they've pushed it all out - that's fine. I'm happy with that. Just so they are aware of that."

And Ranvir has been trying her best to get in shape to prepare herself for the gruelling dance rehearsals.

She added: "I've started running a little bit to try to get my body used to being completely out of breath and I've done a few high-intensity training sessions.

"I haven't gone hell for leather because I'm up against an Olympic gold medallist in [boxer] Nicola Adams."
