Robert Webb feels a "mixture of sadness and rage" following the news of 'Peep Show' falling under the axe.

The 41-year-old actor is devastated that the sitcom - which follows the lives of two flatmates, Mark Corrigan (David Mitchell) and Jeremy 'Jez' Usbourne (Webb) from their 20s to their 30s - is to end, but admits he thinks it's time to call it quits.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, Robert said: "We feel a mixture of sadness and rage that it's coming to an end. We've just said for years it just gets more interesting as they get older and older. Pressure builds on these two characters, which is why it's great that they're getting older."

David added: "We're loving doing it, but we never thought it would go on as long as it had. And I think we're getting a bit too old to play the kind of people who realistically can share that kinds of life together. It's sad but inevitable."

However, last year David said he could see the show going on forever because there is plenty of comedy material to be written from Mark and Jez's daily life.

He said: "Two once-young men, now not quite so young, are living together and facing the problems that everyone faces.

"There's pretty much a bottomless pit of potential problems that we can cover."
