The scientific show - fronted by the blonde beauty - only made its debut on television screens five months ago but it seems bosses are already considering pulling the plug on it after the viewing figures failed to set the world alight.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "'It's Not Rocket Science' was billed as the 'Top Gear' of science, but ... given its place on a prime time Saturday night slot, the ratings were seriously disappointing. ITV is now exploring other options which will take priority over another series."

Since February, the programme has managed to pull an average of 1.8 million viewers over six episodes, whereas 'The X Factor' pulled 8.4 million last year in the same slot.

The show, which is also co-hosted by Romesh Ranganathan and Ben Miller, features a number of wacky stunts, including the 30-year-old star zip-wiring through fire.

A spokesmen for the broadcaster said: "No decisions have been made on a second series yet."
