The 'Big Brother's Bit on the Side' host quit the daytime show in December after five years for the sake of his mental health, but he looks set to return to the small screen imminently.

A show insider told The Sun Online: "Rylan will be back on screen shortly - in fact, it could be as soon as next month.

"He's part of the show's family and always has been. Even though he took a short break, he was always going to return."

Rylan - who acts as a showbiz correspondent, and has also been known to guest host the programme - will also appear at the 'This Morning Live' event, which takes place from May 17-20 at Birmingham's NEC.

He wrote on Twitter: "Guess who's back. See you at @TMLiveEvent @thismorning . See you there #TmLive x (sic)"

The 29-year-old TV presenter - who is married to former 'Big Brother' star Dan Clark-Neal - recently insisted he had no "ulterior motive" in quitting 'This Morning', other than needing some time to himself.

He said: "Some news outlets have said I'm having a baby, getting divorced and terminally ill.

"I'm really missing being there but I just need time to myself. People think there's an ulterior motive and there's not.

"I just needed a break for my head, for my body, for my peace of mind.

"I just needed a little break from working three, four, five jobs. That's all.

"I don't get holiday, I'm self-employed. That's a really big risk for anyone in telly.

"There's always 100 people that are ready to do your job -- but I needed to do it.

"People forget you're not just on telly for that hour.

"Today, for instance, I'm up at five. On a 'Big Brother' eviction night I wouldn't have got home until 1am.

"For my head, I just need to take a little break."
