Modern-day Mumbai may not be your typical setting for a Netflix original series, but that’s exactly where we’ll all be headed with Sacred Games, based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Vikram Chandra. This week, Netflix dropped the official teaser trailer for the show, as well as a beautiful now poster, both of which you can check out below:

Saif Ali Khan takes the lead role in the series as Sartaj Singh; a Bombay police officer described as “seasoned and cynical”, who’s given a tip one morning that promises to give him the perfect opportunity to bring criminal overlord Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) to justice. As the worlds of the two collide however, they begin to realise that they’ll a part of something much bigger that expands beyond their city.

Shot on location in India, Sacred Games looks to be one of the most entertaining new crime shows of the year. The teaser alone leaves us compelling and intrigued, instantly proving that you don’t have to be a fan of the original novel to want to jump right into the action and experience the story being told.

Combining politics, organised crime, violence and passion together, Sacred Games has its fingers in many pies. Let’s hope the final product is as impressive as what we’ve seen so far.

Sacred Games comes to Netflix with all episodes available from July 6, 2018.
