The wife of Prime Minister David Cameron beat off stiff competition from the likes of comedian Jason Manford, former footballer David 'Calamity' James and 'EastEnders' actress Maddy Hill to be crowned the prestigious Star Baker in the charity celebrity cooking competition.

She said after her win: "I am genuinely really pleased. I'm normally being given flowers for being David's wife, so it's really nice being given flowers for, you know, doing something that I've done on my own."

The brunette beauty took the winner's crown when she impressed judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood with her tasty canapés in tough The Signature Challenge.

Mary said: "I thought she did really really well."

Paul added: "The showstopper - Sam knocked everyone out of the park. That was fantastic, well thought out, well executed and tastes actually as good as it looks."

And that wasn't the only area Samantha excelled in as she also did exceptionally well in the Showstopper round but she did admit beforehand that she had an advantage because she had studied art when she was at university.

She explained: "I am by trade a designer and I did Fine Art for my degree. So, in theory I should be good at this."

Meanwhile, Samantha previously said she was worried she'd have to cook something she hadn't heard of.

She said earlier this month: "I'm scared that we will have to bake something that I haven't even heard of and I won't have a clue what it's meant to look like!"
