The new Channel 4 satirical entertainment show featured the 'Gogglebox' star as the host for its debut episode last week, but her appearance is set to be short lived as bosses have now axed the programme after its first episode pulled in a mere 450,000 viewers.

A Channel 4 spokesperson told The Sun newspaper: "We're brave enough to take risks with innovative programme ideas but also to acknowledge they don't all work and move on."

Whilst a source added: "Channel 4 tried to give something new a go but it hasn't worked on any level. It did not land with viewers and they've decided to not only leave the second episode, but completely pack in the show. It's unfortunate for Scarlett as she ends up the only host of the show that didn't work from the word go."

The programme - which aired last Thursday (22.06.17) - saw 26-year-old Scarlett emulate a number of popular television shows, including the Channel 4 news and 'Blind Date'.

The 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' winner joined forces with the likes of newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Blue singer turned 'Hollyoaks' actor Duncan James for her sketches, before dressing up as Wonder Woman to interview pop band Steps on a make-believe chat show.

Before her appearance on the show, it was reported that Scarlett had no idea what was in store when she took on the role, and was only told she would be interviewing guests and playing fun games.

The cancellation of 'Host The Week' now means that any future plans for the show, including filming with comedian Jack Whitehall, who was meant to film his performance as the host on Tuesday (27.06.17), have been scrapped.
