Scott & Bailey have been reunited as the fourth series of the crime drama has gone into production, filming in Oldham and Manchester.

Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp are once again stepping into their roles as the crime-fighting team, for eight new episodes coming to ITV.

Their relationship will be tested like never before as both seek to be promoted to the role of Detective Sergeant.

Amelia Bullmore also returns as D.C.I. Gill Murray, controlling Syndicate 9 and hoping to ensure her team delivers despite the modern day pressures of policing. Amelia will also write four of the scripts for the new series.

Lee Warburton - former Coronation Street actor is to write two episodes, and Emily Ballou will write the remaining episodes.

Danny Webb joins Suranne, Lesley and Amelia this series as family man D.C. Chris Crowley, and Danny Miller returns as D.S. Rob Waddington.

Co-creator Sally Wainwright will executive produce the new series with Nicola Shindler - Director of RED Production Company - and former Scott & Bailey producer Tom Sherry.

Juliet Charlesworth will produce this new series, with Simon Delaney and Noreen Kershaw directing.

“We’re thrilled to be producing a new series of Scott & Bailey,” said Nicola. “It’s rewarding to think the public have become so familiar with the characters and taken them to heart. With this new series, we have the chance to explore great story ideas and continue developing those characters,” she added.

Scott & Bailey is expected to return to UK screens later this year.
