British actor Aml Ameen has been reported by Deadline as leaving the show and his role of Capheus, with newcomer Toby Onwumere stepping into his shoes.

One person who doesn't seem phased by the news however is Ameen's former co-star Jamie Clayton, who's also one of the show's leads.

Speaking to fans on Twitter, she wrote: "NOW THE WRITING & CHARACTER CAN SHINE AS THEY WERE MEANT TO!"

When somebody asked why Capheus wasn't killed off rather than being recast, she added: "BECAUSE CAPHEUS IS AN AMAZING CHARACTER WITH AN INCREDIBLE STORY TO TELL!"

She also told one fan: "The truth ALWAYS comes out!" after being asked if she'll ever 'spill the tea'.

Through the first season, viewers saw Capheus witness a shared vision with seven other strangers and go to extreme lengths to fund his mother's AIDS medication.

It's unclear just how much he'll be in the new season, but filming is already underway and Clayton has promised the first new episode will be coming to the streaming service around Christmas this year.
