The tough-talking panellist - who has appeared on the show for 14 years - couldn't hide her sadness as her co-stars pulled together to make her last day on the programme one to remember with touching tributes and plenty of surprises.

Within minutes of stepping onto the show, Sherrie was a blubbering wreck as she thanked her fellow panellists and the weekday viewers for tuning in to listen to her opinions.

She said as tears rolled down her cheek: "Thank you because it had been absolutely amazing but thank you so much for supporting me - you mean the world."

Nadia Sawalha was the first to present the 'Benidorm' star with a gift as she pulled out a handmade cake that she'd created with her children Maddie, 13, and Kiki, seven.

However, the delicious eye-catching creation didn't go according to plan as they ran out of blue icing for the back of the cake and had to cover it up with little figurines.

Coleen Nolan was determined to stick the boot in with her gift as she teased that Sherrie's ex-husband Ken Boyd - who she hasn't spoken to since she found out he'd cheated on her in 2004 - had stopped by to wish her luck.

She added: "But Ken wasn't free so we got you another Ken."

As the brunette beauty pulled out a toy Ken doll, Sherrie snatched it and smashed its head against the table.

She said: "He's the perfect man as he can't talk back!"

The panellists - which also included Andrea McLean on today's show - sponsored a disability assistance dog named Diva in her name after she said previously she desperately wanted a pet of her own.

However, the surprises didn't stop there as the 'Are You Being Served?' star was reduced to tears again when her long-time friend and former 'Coronation Street' co-star Kevin Kennedy - who played Norman 'Curly' Watts' in the long-running soap - left her a heartfelt message.

The 55-year-old actor then appeared from behind the stage wings and crept up on his pal.

Stephen Bear - who flirted up a storm with Sherrie last week - also made an appearance as he dressed up as a sexy postman to read a letter from absent panellist Janet Street-Porter.

Meanwhile, the show was drawn to a close when Coleen got up and performed her rendition of Golden Girls' theme tune 'Thank You For Being a Friend'.
